Canadian Appeals Monitor: McCarthy Tétrault

McCarthy Tétrault’s active lawyers have argued nearly 1,500 appellate cases in nine out of ten of Canada's provinces and in one territory. Those cases include 130 cases in the Supreme Court of Canada, 12 of which were decided in 2010-2011 alone. The firm's new blog, Canadian Appeals Monitor, voices the firm's perspectives on upcoming and decided appeals of interest to Canadian businesses and professions. It also comments on the impact of legal changes that may affect appellate procedure, and relates insights and best practices derived from our experiences handling complex appeals.

McCarthy Tétrault's National Appellate Litigation Group has more than 60 members seamlessly integrated across Canada, with offices in major commercial centres in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montréal. The group draws upon the experience of 52 McCarthy Tétrault lawyers who have served as judicial clerks, including 21 in the Supreme Court of Canada, and 16 in the Courts of Appeal for Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Québec. The practitioners in the Group also have access to advice from former justices
