One Killed After Crash On Fruitville In Sarasota At Arbor Oaks Drive

Sarasota Florida – One person died after a crash on Fruitville Road Friday evening.

According to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash took place as 65 year old Sean Killelea From Sarasota was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry eastbound on Fruitville Road on the inside lane, approaching the intersection with Arbor Oaks Drive.

At the same time driver Garret Alday from Myakka City and passenger 24 Year Old Katie Huss from Sarasota were also driving on Fruitville Road heading westbound on the inside lanes in a 2006 GMC Sierra pick up truck.

At roughly 8:22 P.M. Killelea entered the left turn lane to turn across Fruitville onto Arbor Oaks Dr., and drive into the path of the oncoming full-sized pick up truck.

The GMC truck crashed into the right side of the Toyota Camry, and momentum carried the vehicles to the outside lane west of the intersection whee they finally came to a stop.

Killelea was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital but died from his injuries.

Neither driver Garret Alday, or passenger Katie Huss were injured in the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and the accident remains under investigation.
