Heritage. This is my Grandfather’s law school diploma. It hangs in front of me at my desk, and is one of my prized possessions. It is over 100 years old, and wrinkled; but, it is the origin of my desire to become a lawyer. My grandfather, M. Martin Georges, graduated from law school on June 10, 1913. He immediately went to World War I. He lost his hearing due to the sounds of the guns, and never practiced law. He did, however, have a long career in the Post Office Department, where his legal skills came in handy. We both were in Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and were the first grandfather-grandson combination in the Fraternity. I am posting this to emphasize the fact that we are all part of our heritage, and because good friend, Michael Haddad’s posting of his Great GrandFather and his brothers made me think of my Bompa. Rest in Peace, Bompa. I know there is at least one lawyer in heaven.
