At Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton, LLP, we have a highly qualified and experienced Family Law Team which continues to work full time on behalf of our clients during our Nation’s current health and economic crisis.  We are fully committed to helping protect each client during this period of financial volatility, as well as guiding families who may experience parenting and visitation issues as a result of school closures and “shelter in place” orders.

Shackelford is adhering to all recommendations of the State of Texas as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help protect members of our Firm and prevent further spread of COVID-19. Our Family Law Team has the capability of communicating with new and existing clients and handling all new and existing matters remotely in order to provide continuous services to our clientele, which safeguards not only your health and safety, but also the health and safety of our Firm and family members.

Is My Case Still Being Addressed At this Time?

Yes. Shackelford remains open for business and our Family Law Team continues to diligently work on your case as always.  The Firm has the technological capability and equipment necessary for our lawyers and paralegals to work securely from home. All new and existing clients may email, call, or videoconference with any member of our Family Law Team during regular business hours.  Further, at the discretion of each individual attorney, an in-office meeting may be arranged if required.

Are the Courts Currently Open and Operational?

Most Courts within the State of Texas are rescheduling all non-essential hearings and trials at this time. Your attorney and paralegal assigned to your case will continue to update you regarding the status of your individual case and, if applicable, any Court setting. Our Family Law Team will continue to make all Court appearances (whether in person or remote) as required. All court filings in Texas are done electronically, and thus we are experiencing no interruptions to court access at present.

Our Family Law Team is continuously available to schedule any new consultations and represent our existing clients.

Mediations and Informal Settlement Conferences

While most non-essential hearings and trials may be postponed at this time, Shackelford’s Family Law Team remains committed to working with each client as well as opposing counsel to resolve any and all matters outside of the Courtroom when possible in each case.  With existing technology, our Team has the capability of participating in virtual mediations and informal settlement conferences via videoconference, and we will work together to resolve any issue as peacefully and amicably as possible with this technology.
