You are looking at starting probate without meeting your attorney in person. Can this really be done?  YES!  We do this all the time.  Some simple reasons why this is so:

  • I have clients that live all around the country, and even the world, who lost a loved one in California.
  • Most of my clients want to start probate right away as probate takes a long time so the sooner you start the sooner you’ll be done!
  • With the Coronavirus/Covid-19 situation many of my clients would prefer to shelter in place at their own home.
  • Printers/scanners/fax/email/phone/zoom/mail/FedEx make it so things can be done very efficiently.

Let’s discuss each of these in more detail.

I have clients all around the country and the world. The common bond that my clients have is that they lost a loved one who lived or owned real estate in California. It does not matter which county as we handle probate cases in every county in the state.  Our court appearances are friendly in probate and thus are done telephonically, or now by Zoom, in every court. My clients who are many timezones away love how fast I am with email as that makes communication pretty easy.

I would say most of my clients appreciate how fast I do things. From the minute my new client says GO we work as fast, yet accurately, as we can.  I want to put the initial documents in your hands within 24 hours and often THE SAME DAY! I pride myself on this. Most attorneys take a week or two to get you in to the office, then a week or two to prepare the main documents, and with my firm you’d already be approaching your first court date in some cases!

The Covid-19, or Coronavirus, situation has made it so a lot of people are looking to cut down their face to face meetings. This makes really good sense.  Why take a chance if you don’t need to?  I am set up to work remotely with you no matter where you are in the world. If you do have a reason to come to one of our offices we do ask that you wear a mask during the Covid-19 pandemic.

I love using technology like email, printers, scanners and other such devices to get documents to you, back to me, and filed in short order. However, we also use the more tried and true methods such as the US Post Office and, you won’t believe this one, the phone!  We will do whatever we can to get documents to you so we can get them filed quickly. We have many options!

I look forward to helping you with your probate situation.
