Zoom has a lot of popular features that competitors have copied. One of those is virtual backgrounds. The ability to blur your background or transmit a different background image can make you appear more professional and “hide” the clutter of your home workspace. The Verge has posted instructions on how to change your background if you are using Microsoft Teams.

You can change your background prior to starting the meeting. Start your meeting and turn on the video. Toggle the background setting control (between the video and audio control). You will then have the ability to blur your real background or choose a virtual background. You can also add your own images by selecting the “Add new” link. The selected background will remain in effect for all meetings until you change it.

If you are already participating in an active meeting, select the three dots on the bottom button bar and pick the “Show background effects” option. This action will bring up the same background controls to blur your real background, select an image as a virtual background or add a new image.
