FRAP 3 is the notice of appeal rule for federal court. In particular FRAP 3(c) covers the “contents of the notice of appeal.” A proposal to add some subsections (4, 5, 6) into the rule to clarify what must be included in a notice of appeal is here.

As explained in Bloomberg Law’s Latest Federal Rule Changes Seek to Streamline Notice of Appeal,  “some courts had interpreted Rule 3 to limit the appeal only to those explicitly listed on the notice. That not only complicated the notices but could lead to the loss of appellate rights for orders that should be reviewable.”
