MANATEE COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol reported a pedestrian has died after being struck by multiple vehicles while attempting to cross U.S. 41 Friday night.

The crash took place as a sedan driven by a 32-year-old man from Bradenton was traveling northbound in the center lane of U.S. 41 north of Orlando Avenue.

The sedan was being followed by a van driven by a 61-year-old woman from Bradenton in the right lane, slightly behind the sedan.

As the vehicles traveled north on U.S. 41, a 58-year-old man was attempting to walk across U.S.41 in an area where there are no crosswalks.

At 9:27 PM the sedan encountered the pedestrian and side-swiped the man.

After being brushed by the sedan the man entered the outside lane of travel and was directly in the path of the oncoming van.

The right-front of the van collided with the man. The pedestrian came to a rest in the northbound right turn lane of US 41, north of where he was struck by the sedan.

After the impact, the driver of the sedan brought his cart to a controlled stop in the center lane. The driver of the van brought her van to a stop in the right turn lane of U.S. 41.

Manatee County EMS responded to the accident and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene of the crash.
