The Update

The UKVI has recently made an important announcement of suspending ‘priority’ and ‘super priority’ visa processing services for all applications from outside the UK, without any prior warning.

Not only are the services updated, but the UKVI also says that “applications for study, work and family visas may take longer to process.”

“UKVI is prioritizing Ukraine Family Scheme applications in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine, and so applications for study, work and family visas may take longer to process. ‘Priority’ and ‘super priority’ visa services have been temporarily suspended for new study, work and family visa applications.”

This change affects the most common visas and increases the processing time of visas like the Skilled Worker and Intra-Company routes by 3 weeks. Standard visit visas are facing a 6 weeks processing time, instead of the usual 3 weeks.

Summary

According to the UKVI,

  • “UKVI is prioritizing Ukraine Family Scheme applications in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine, and so applications for study, work and family visas may take longer to process.
  • ‘Priority’ and ‘super priority’ visa services have been temporarily suspended for new study, work and family visa applications.
  • Standard visitor visas are currently taking an average of 6 weeks to process.
  • If you applied for a priority or super priority visa and your application is not straightforward, you may have to wait longer, but your application will still be put at the front of the queue at every stage of the decision-making process. UK Visas and Immigration will try to process your application within our standard timescales.”
