The Government has given an indication about the fate of the lapsed Treasury Laws Amendment (Modernising Business Communications) Bill 2022 which amongst other things permitted electronic delivery of a wide range of documents in the National Credit Act. Background.

Treasury is consulting on a new part of an amended Treasury Laws Amendment (Modernising Business Communications) Bill 2022: Virtual hearings and examinations which will permit Treasury portfolio regulators (including ASIC and APRA) to hold hearings and examinations virtually.

In addition to these amendments, Treasury says the revised package removes the previously proposed changes to credit laws which will instead be considered at a later date.
