The Chicago Bar Association will celebrate the 2023-2024 bar year and welcome the 2024-2025 bar year and leadership at the annual meeting on June 27 at the University Club of Chicago. The meeting will highlight the yearlong celebration of the CBA’s 150th Anniversary, welcome a new group of officers, and look ahead to the new bar year. Outgoing President Ray J. Koenig III will pass the gavel of leadership to the CBA’s new president, John C. Sciaccotta.
Sciaccotta will be joined by a new slate of CBA Officers, including First Vice President Kathryn Carso Liss, Executive Director, Schiller DuCanto and Fleck Family Law Center, DePaul University College of Law; Second Vice President Judge Nichole C. Patton; Secretary Trisha Rich, Partner, Holland & Knight and Treasurer Jonathan Amarillo, Partner, Taft Stettinius & Hollister.
Sciaccotta plans to focus his Presidency on “Leaving a legacy for the legal profession.” “I always say being a member of the CBA enhances your career, enriches your life and the contributions you make betters our beloved legal profession. Every member’s involvement benefits our legal profession,” said Sciaccotta. “This year I plan to engage our membership through initiatives like a national symposium on leadership, negotiations and ADR, a health and wellness program for lawyers and judges, and the formation of an exploratory committee for the creation of The Chicago Bar Association National Legal History Museum & Educational Center in Chicago.”
Sciaccotta is a Senior Equity Partner/Member at Aronberg Goldgehn and has more than 37 years of trial and litigation civil litigation, arbitration, mediation, business separation/divorce and business transactional and counseling matters. He serves on the firm’s Executive Management Committee, chair of the Recruitment Committee, and is the founder and co-chair of the firm’s Business Divorce practice group, the chair of the Commercial Litigation marketing group, a founding member of the firm’s DEI Committee, and co-chair of the firm’s Marketing Committee. He has held several leadership and board positions at the CBA as well as co-founding and chairing the Business Divorce and Complex Ownership Disputes Committee since 2018. He has served on the boards and in leadership positions of many community and philanthropic organizations, including The DuSable Museum of African American History, WINGS Program, Inc., Jesse White Tumbling Team, Inc., The Chicago Bar Foundation, The DePaul University College of Law Dean’s Advisory Council, The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago, the Lawyers’ Committee for The Retention of Cook County Judges, Fenwick High School Board of Trustees (Life Trustee), Fenwick High School Bar Association (Co-Founder), Barrington High School Baseball Booster Club and many others.
New members of the 2024-2025 Board of Managers will be introduced. Members include Daniel J. Berkowitz, Tracy Brammeier, Nisha N. Dotson, John C. Ellis, Josie Gough, Brian Haussmann, Judge Kenya A. The event will feature opening remarks from Ray J. Koenig III, recognition for outgoing officers and board members, reports from the CBA Treasurer and Election Committee, introductions of new officers and board members, and closing remarks from John C. Sciaccotta.
