Food safety expert Nuno F. Soares has released a new book titled “How to Sell Food Safety: The 3 ½ Steps That Will Massively Increase Your Chances of Being Heard.” The book, released today, aims to revolutionize how food safety professionals understand their role and secure buy-in from top management and teams. It is available for purchase now at www.howtosellfoodsafety.com.

Bill Marler, a leading food safety advocate, attorney and publisher of Food Safety News, writes in the preface, “I cannot count the times that food safety professionals have asked me how to get the C-suite to engage in food safety before a foodborne illness outbreak happens—devastating hundreds of consumers and possibly crippling the company. Nuno’s answer is to lean into the ego. Most leaders have egos, or they likely would not be leaders. The key is for a food safety professional to guide the leader’s ego and make him or her feel the need to be a leader in food safety and to make that as important to the organization as the bottom line.”

In “How to Sell Food Safety,” Soares introduces a comprehensive 3 ½-step process to significantly enhance the ability of food safety professionals to be heard and to gain the support they need. “Persuasion is the key to advocating for food safety,” Soares says. “This book will help professionals prepare for those challenging talks when we need to ask for something!” He adds, “It is not about us! We must articulate how what is needed aligns with the leader’s and the business’s priorities and elevate the role of the leader to the hero of a successful food safety story.”

Born and raised in Oporto, Portugal, Nuno F. Soares is a passionate food safety professional with over 20 years of experience. His journey began with a keen interest in science and engineering, which led him to pursue a career in food safety. Soares holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Ph.D., during which he developed a new frozen fish glazing solution. His dedication to improving food safety standards earned him the title of Food Engineer Specialist by the Portuguese Engineering Professional Association in 2018.

Soares is also a prolific author, having published books, e-books, and articles on food safety topics. He works exclusively in supporting food safety professionals, helping them achieve more fulfilling careers through continued learning, improved competencies, and an expanded mindset.
