Late last week, Prez Trump named a new director for the federal prison system. The appointment has gotten lots of attention and press coverage in West Virgina, as noted in this local piece:
President Donald Trump has named West Virginia Divisions of Corrections and Rehabilitation commissioner William “Billy” K. Marshall III the new director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Marshall, a Marshall University graduate, served with the West Virginia State Police for 25 years before taking on the role of state DCR commissioner.
U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice took to social media Thursday evening to express their happiness with the choice and offer their congratulations to Marshall….
Marshall served as commissioner for the state DCR for a little over two years before Thursday’s announcement.
As for national coverage, I have so far seen these two early pieces:
From Forbes, “Trump Announces New Director Of The Bureau Of Prisons“
From The Marshall Project, “Who Is Billy Marshall? What to Know About Trump’s New Bureau of Prisons Director: West Virginia’s top corrections official led a troubled state agency, and will now head a federal bureaucracy plagued with problems of its own.”
