Pacific Meridian recalls garlic powder because of metal contamination

Pacific Meridian Group, LLC, of Oakland, CA, is recalling 175,000 lbs. of its Gold Garlic Powder Irradiated because of potential contamination with foreign objects, specifically metal.

The recall, initiated on March 17, 2025, is classified as a Class II recall, indicating a low risk of serious health consequences, though temporary or reversible effects may occur. The recall remains ongoing, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The affected products were distributed to stores in California, Illinois and Texas.

    • Distributed By: Pacific Meridian Group, LLC, Oakland, CA
    • Sold In: CA, IL, TX

As of the posting of this recall, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this issue.

Businesses are urged not to use, sell, or distribute the recalled garlic powder and should check their inventories for the affected code information. The recalled products should be discarded or returned to the supplier.

About foreign object concerns
The presence of metal in food products poses risks such as choking, oral injury, or gastrointestinal damage if ingested. Consumers or businesses experiencing any adverse effects after handling or consuming the product should seek medical attention promptly.
