The Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) is a group of seven traumatic brain injury programs from the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals, and two civilian traumatic brain injury rehabilitation programs. The DVBIC’s mission is to provide and improve traumatic brain injury care for active military personnel, veterans and their beneficiaries. The DVBIC wants to provide expert care and treatment for each patient in order to decrease and eliminate traumatic brain injury related disabilities.
The DVBIC focuses on the well being of solders and veterans by conducting clinical studies with active duty and reserve component personnel in an attempt to significantly reduce the number of TBIs suffered each year. The facilities provide neurological evaluation, neuropsychological interviews, neuropsychological testing, psychiatric interviews, medical/social history interviews, and audiology, EEG or MRI screenings.
I think the DVBIC is a great organization that will not only assist in the treatment of TBI for soldiers and veterans, but will also help to raise awareness of the severity and increasing number of TBIs suffered each year by our service men and women.
