U.S. Virgin Islands Governor John P. deJongh recently appointed two BoltNagi attorneys to serve on territorial governmental boards. Managing Attorney Tom Bolt has been appointed as a member of the Interagency Council on Homelessness and Laura C. Nagi, Chair of the firm’s Family Law and Children’s Issues Practice Group as a member of the State Advisory Group of the Law Enforcement Planning Commission.

Governor deJongh created the Virgin Islands Interagency Council on Homelessness to develop and implement a plan to prevent, and end, homelessness in the Territory. When creating the Council, he recognized that in order to effectively work to end homelessness in the United States Virgin Islands there must be collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and service provider networks.

Attorney Bolt has a history of working with the homeless in the Territory, having served as Chair of The Salvation Army Advisory Board for the past three years and as Chair of the Virgin Islands Continuum of Care on Homelessness for the past year.  “It is a great honor to have the opportunity to work to end homelessness in the Virgin Islands.  It is admirable goal that is achievable in very near future if we work together as an island community.”

The Law Enforcement Planning Commission is the territorial agency designated by the Governor deJongh to administer the various federal funding programs that assists in justice initiatives including the Victims of Crime Act, the Byrne Justice Assistance Grants, the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Program, and the Victims Against Women Act.

The State Advisory Group to which Attorney Nagi was appointed is charged with assisting the Governor in attaining the goals of the Virgin Islands’ Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Program to prevent and control delinquency and to improve the Territory’s juvenile justice system.  “I am very excited at the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Virgin Islands’ youth” Attorney Nagi said.

BoltNagi is committed to the Virgin Islands community and encourages its attorneys to participate actively in both professional and community organizations which benefit the legal community and the community at large.
