The Massachusetts Land Court is in the process of moving out of its home for the past seven years — the office building at 226 Causeway Street, near the Boston 
Garden. The court is moving into space on the 4th, 5th and 11th floors of the “new” (1937) Suffolk County Courthouse at Three Pemberton Square (the high-rise pictured at left), which is attached to the “old” (1893) Suffolk County Courthouse at One Pemberton Square, which was the Land Court’s home for almost 90 years until 1999, when it moved to the then-new Edward W. Brooke Courthouse on New Chardon Street. Got that? This is the court’s third move in eleven years, and I think I speak for most regular Land Court practitioners (and probably a good many of the judges and staff) in saying that I hope the court can settle into its new quarters and stay there until we’re all long-retired and playing Parcheesi at the rest home. According to the schedule posted on the Land Court’s web page, the court began moving its files a few weeks ago, and plans to complete the move and open for business at Three Pemberton Square on Monday, December 13, 2010.
