Taiwan now joins the club of participants in the visa waiver program, sometimes referred to as the waivered tourist program.  The visa waiver program (VWP) makes visits to the US easy for passport-holders of countries that DHS has determined comply with certain security and information-sharing requirements, as well as low fraud and overstay rates.  No visa is required for a visit for business or pleasure lasting fewer than 90 days.  One seeking to come to the US merely registers on-line with ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).   Taiwan joins 36 participant nations in the VWP as of November 1, 2012.
