Inspectors continue to investigate the cause of a Vancouver salmonella outbreak that sickened more than 80 people earlier this month, and they said cross-contamination could be to blame.
On the Border Mexican Grill, at 1505 Southeast 164th Avenue, was closed after dozens of people who ate there between Sept. 20 and Oct. 8 experienced salmonella symptoms.
Health inspectors said there were some common foods eaten by everyone who got sick, including guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and cheese.
Inspectors said cross-contamination was the likely cause of the outbreak.
Three lawsuits have been filed and attorneys expect more.
“They’re seeking what is typical in civil lawsuits: Compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and the general misery of salmonella infection,” attorney Bruce Clark told KGW.
So far the investigation has cost Clark County about $44,000.
