On January 15th, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will host a meeting/conference call with Director Alejandro Mayorkas to discuss the:
- USCIS’ publication of the first volume of a comprehensive (and new) online Policy Manual. First volume will cover Citizenship and Naturalization.
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process.
- USCIS immigrant fee.
- Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver.

In time, and with respect to immigration compliance, the Policy Manual will have a volume on “Travel, Employment & Identity Documents” (Volume 11). The intent is for the Policy Manual to ultimately replace the Adjudicator’s Field Manual, the USCIS Immigration Policy Memoranda site, and other policy repositories leaving one central source of information. It will include up-to-the-minute comprehensive policy updates, an expanded table of contents, and links to related Immigration and Naturalization Act sections, Code of Federal Regulations, and public use forms. The Policy Manual will also be equipped with a keyword search function. Citations of statutes, regulations, case law, authoritative sources, and other explanatory references will appear in footnotes. Tables and charts will supplement and simplify policy information to facilitate understanding of complex topics and instructions.
Time will tell, but this sounds like it could make everyone’s life a lot easier rather than having to rummage around various sections of the website, manuals, etc. in search for answers to compliance questions. Stay tuned.
