China to Strengthen Protection of Online Private Information

On 28 December 2012, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China issued the Decision on Strengthening Protection of Online Information (the “Decision“), effective as of its issue date.

The purpose of the Decision is to protect online personal information, online privacy as well as the public interest.  Our Beijing office has provided a summary of the key provisions of the Decision.
