Recently, the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and Facebook launched a guide intended to assist individuals who have been victims of domestic violence.  The guide offers tips to individuals who have suffered abuse on “how to use Facebook in a way that ensures that they stay connected with friends and family, but control their safety and privacy to help prevent misuse by abusers, stalkers, and perpetrators to stalk and harass.”  The guide covers topics including the use of privacy controls, account security, safety tools in the event of stalking or harassment, and legal resources.

In a post on Facebook, NNEDV Vice President of Development & Innovation Cindy Southworth and Senior Technology Safety Specialist Erica Olsen explain that they “are excited about this publication” because they “know how important it is to survivors to remain connected, both offline and online, to family and friends, while also maintaining their privacy and safety.”
