Have you ever taken a look at Social Security’s “Fast Facts”? The 2013 version is now out and gives interesting “did you know” statistics, including this one:  “Social Security provided at least half the income for 64 percent of the aged beneficiaries in 2011.” The FAQs cover income and the OASDI program, including beneficiary profiles by age, sex, and more.  There are all kinds of stats provided along with nifty charts in an easy to read format.  You can download the entire publication as a pdf, or simply access specific topics from this link . Of course, you can find many more detailed reports from the Research and Statistics site of SSA.gov.
