On Wednesday, June 4, the Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing titled “The Impact of Student Loan Debt on Borrowers and the Economy.” The Committee will hear from the following witnesses:
- Rohit Chopra, Student Loan Ombudsman, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
- Brittany Jones, Recent College Graduate and Former President, Student Virginia Education Association
- Richard Vedder, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics and Faculty Associate, Contemporary History Institute, Ohio University
At the same time, the Senate Banking Committee’s Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection is holding a hearing titled “Student Loan Servicing: The Borrower’s Experience.” Surprisingly, nobody from the CFPB is slated to testify at the hearing.
