This video does rather capture it.  People really do look like this up there, including the facial hair and the absence of beautiful women.  Sorry, but that's something you notice coming from SoCal, and actually I find it rather relaxing.  But unnoted are the large representation of persons of homelessness and the frequent scent of urine, presumably not one of the beautiful smells alluded to. Also, good luck getting any kind of table at Chez Panisse. But there are lots of other good places to eat and even more mediocre places to eat. But to be fair, you can get just about anything for not much, well, a reasonable amount of cash. Finally, it's the 50th anniversary of the Free Speech Movement so send your money to Cal. Really. That's what they're sayin'.
