Bogota New Jersey Marijuana Distribution LawyersBogota New Jersey police recently arrested two men who allegedly had 13 marijuana plants in their home.

The Bogota Police Department received a tip about possible drug activity at a residence located at 112 Homestead Place in Bogota, NJ. The Bogota police chief later issued a press release indicating that the police department learned one of the suspects, a 67-year-old male, was growing and selling marijuana out of the house.

Police eventually obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of the home. During the search of the residence, police allegedly found 13 pot plants. According to authorities, some of the marijuana plants were in a growing room that had professional growing lights and a ventilation system.

Police officers also reportedly seized around $20,000 in cash from the residence.

The suspects, the 67-year-old target of the investigation and his 67-year-old roommate, were placed under arrest without incident. They have both been charged with a number of drug crimes, including marijuana possession with intent to distribute, manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), and conspiracy.

If the suspects are convicted on the marijuana distribution charges, they face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, possession with intent to distribute more than one ounce of marijuana is a third degree felony. A conviction for third degree marijuana distribution could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.

After being arrested and processed, the suspects were transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. They are each being held at the jail in lieu of separate $60,000 bail amounts.
