Housing Plus BlogToday, HUD issued the  final rule on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH), which represents HUD’s effort to provide guidance and standards for HUD grantees to comply with AFFH. The final rule requires cities, housing authorities, and other jurisdictions that receive HUD funds to conduct local analysis of HUD-provided data about racial and ethnic poverty statistics, community housing needs and disparities, and equal access patterns.

We will post more commentary after we have fully reviewed the 377 pages of the rule and HUD’s responses to comments received. In the meantime, see today’s Wall Street Journal, which quotes Ballard Spahr attorney and Housing Plus blogger Amy Glassman about the rule, and  Ballard Spahr’s summary of the proposed AFFH rule.
