A family in Guam is feuding over a fortune that was originally intended for charity. When P.D. and Radhi Hemlani drew up their estate plan in 1997 they created a trust that would provide for their income for the rest of their lives and designated the remainder for charitable causes. The husband P.D. passed away in 2004 and his wife Radhi died in 2013. When Radhi passed away she left behind assets that are worth at least $10 million. Now Jack Hemlani, an adopted son of the couple who was written out of the will, is alleging that the people administering the trust are looting its assets. The Guam Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson is now looking into the allegations to make sure that the trusts charitable intent is properly enforced.
