Drew University Shooting ScareMadison NJ police officers arrested a Drew University student who allegedly told several people that he possessed a handgun on campus.

The suspect, an 18-year-old student at Drew University in Madison NJ, was reportedly highly intoxicated when he started knocking on doors in Foster Hall at 2:30 a.m. Foster Hall is a main residence hall at Drew University. When students opened their doors, the suspect allegedly told them that he had a gun.

Someone notified the Madison Police Department, which dispatched cops to the college campus. Shortly after arrival, Madison police located the suspect and arrested him.

A search of the suspect did not turn up a handgun or any other kind of weapon.

Despite the fact that the suspect did not have a firearm, he was still charged with creating a false public alarm and disorderly conduct.

Additionally, the suspect was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest because he allegedly struck three cops while they were processing him at Madison police headquarters.
