Talented, energetic, and hardworking. For juniors in the Dallas Independent School District, those qualifications could land them paid internships at law firms, nonprofits, and corporate legal departments this summer for four or eight weeks.

The Dallas Bar Association, in partnership with the DISD, will place current juniors with an academic average of 85 or above, no more than 10 absences, and who are interested in studying law in its Summer Law Intern Program.

Interns will learn the demands of an office environment, gain self-confidence, and acquire career awareness, which will help them set academic and career goals, Dallas Bar Association officials said in a news release. They’ll take courthouse and college campus tours and enjoy other educational programs put on by the local bar.

Students who are bilingual in Spanish or who have participated in mock trial, speech, debate, and history competitions are especially encouraged to apply.

Those interested in an internship have until March 24 to submit an application. Employers interested in hiring an intern may also notify the DBA. For more information, go to dallasbar.org/summerlawinternprogram or contact Kathryn Zack at kzack@dallasbar.org or (214) 220-7450.
