Mahwah NJ Sexual Assault SuspectA Mahwah New Jersey man has been charged with aggravated sexual assault for allegedly touching an underage child in a sexual manner.

The suspect is a 39-year-old Mahwah man who is employed by the NJ Department of Public Works. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect inappropriately touched a young kid at an undisclosed location in Mahwah NJ in March 2017.

The victim is a 10-year-old child. He reportedly came forward with the allegations sometime after the alleged incident, prompting the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to investigate and speak to the relevant parties. Detectives eventually determined that there was enough evidence to place the suspect under arrest.

The Mahwah New Jersey suspect faces numerous sex crime charges, including criminal charges for aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child.

In addition to potentially facing serious prison time, the suspect’s job with the Department of Public Works may be in jeopardy. He reportedly works as the second assistant fire chief for Mahwah Emergency Services.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
