Ridgefield Park Criminal LawyersA man from Guttenberg, New Jersey was recently placed under arrest after allegedly trying to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s home in Ridgefield Park, NJ.

The suspect is a 23-year-old Guttenberg NJ resident. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect broke into his former girlfriend’s apartment and used a lit candle in an attempt to commit arson.

Police got an emergency call to report a possible gas leak in an apartment located on Fifth Street in Ridgefield Park, NJ. When police got to the residence, they smelled natural gas coming from inside the residence.

Authorities believe that the suspect broke into the apartment, turned on a stove in the kitchen, and then put a lit candle next to the stove.

Ridgefield Park detectives investigated the incident and eventually arrested the suspect. He has been charged with multiple crimes, including attempted arson and burglary.

The suspect does not currently face criminal charges for aggravated assault or any other assault crime.

At this time, authorities have not indicated whether the suspect is subject to a restraining order. Since the suspect has been accused of targeting his former girlfriend, he could also face domestic violence charges.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey.
