Newark Auto Theft LawyerFive residents of Essex County NJ have been charged with crimes in Union County after police allegedly caught them in a stolen vehicle.

Cranford patrol cops reportedly saw a 2008 Mercedes commit a traffic violation after midnight. When the police officers tried to get the driver to pull over, he allegedly drove off.

The subsequent police chase, which involved officers with the Cranford Police Department and the Linden Police Department, lasted for two miles. The chase ended when the suspects’ vehicle reportedly struck a median.

The driver and the four passengers in the vehicle allegedly exited the crashed car and tried to flee on foot, but they were quickly apprehended.

The driver, a 24-year-old Irvington man, has been charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and eluding police.

The four passengers – three Newark residents and one Irvington resident – face charges for receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
