Palm unveils its new Android phone that%u2019s the size of a credit card | Android and Me. Recasting the venerable Palm line of phones as tiny companion devices to regular Smartphones, and then tying them exclusively to Verizon, a carrier I won’t ever go back to again, is probably the only way the company bringing the name back can sell enough phones to survive. But, the only features that remind me of the great Palm phones of the past are Life mode, which allows the battery saving phone sleep feature with a swipe, and the ability to draw on the screen with a finger to find apps. aren’t enough. There may be a market for a cute little phone that syncs with the big one in your pocket, and allows you leave the real phone at home. But, wait, don’t Smartwatches with LTE already do that? And, for the away from home feature, you have to pay $20 a month, which is what I pay already for my LTE enabled Smartwatch. I do like the price; which, at $350 might entice some Verizon customers who don’t want a Smartwatch, and who want a larger screen than a watch. But, in the end, can you say “Verizon”?
