Michael Wade highlighted yesterday this lecture from 2015 by Massimo Pigliucci titled Stoicism 101. It is a short 60 minute discussion of the Stoic philosophy, and really is a road map to living (and dying) in a purposeful, mindful, virtuous, and satisfying fashion. I love the Epictetus quote about death:
“I have to die. If it is now, I will die now. If it is later, I will take my lunch, since the hour for lunch has arrived. I will tend to dying later”.
If I had to find an overarching message for someone interested in understanding life, it would be. Hey, you’re going to die. Get over it.
