Amazon Alexa goes AWOL for many users | TechCrunch. Alexa took a break for a few hours yesterday. She decided that she didn’t want to go to work, and took a sick day. This happens with human employees and staff, which is one reason why I don’t have any. But, computer assistants don’t take days off, they don’t take vacations, they don’t get salaries, and they don’t complain all the time about my weird work hours. However, they do sometimes lose their connection to the Internet, or some server in Mumbai goes down. So, I have Google devices in just about every room I have an Amazon Alexa device, and my phone or Smartwatch are also usually by my side. So, when Alexa says: “Sorry, I can’t hear you”, I just switch to “Ok Google”, are you working today?”. I really can’t wait until I can just implant a computer assistant in my temple and get rid of all this hardware. Hey, I wonder if you will be able to talk to me after I’m dead?
