Sports columnist Peter Vecsey tweeted, “Michele Roberts, 1st woman 2 head a professional sports union, is no longer in power as executive director of NBA’s Players Assn, I am informed by 2 union members.” NBPA President and Thunder guard Chris Paul wasted no time making a statement ensuring that these claims had no base or truth to them, and Roberts wasn’t going anywhere.

Michele Roberts has been the Executive Director of the Players’ Association since 2014. In her role, Roberts ensures players’ rights are protected and that they are fairly compensated for the great value they bring to the court and as ambassadors of the game. Roberts has also been at the forefront of helping players recognize the power of their voice in pursuit of social consciousness as it relates to mental health, political activism, racial injustice and more. Acting as a great advocate for the players, roles were reversed when Paul came to Roberts’ defense after the false report circulated by making an official statement:

Michele Roberts got a new four-year term as executive director of the National Basketball Players Association in 2018.
