<em>FORT MYERS FL</em> – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a man has died after being involved in a tragic accident south of Fort Myers late Tuesday evening.

The crash took place a 39 year old Bruce C. Koelber of Naples, was driving southbound on I-75 in the center lane on I-75 south of Alico Rd, in a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan.

South of Alico Road, 27 year old Alan D. Earle of Naples was closing on Koebler from behind in a 2012 Hyundai Equus sedan at a higher rate of speed.

At  11:53 P.M, Earle failed to slow for the slower minivan and the front of the car collided with the rear end of the Minivan. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to run off the roadway onto the median and crash into the guardrail. Koelber’s minivan finally came to a stop facing south on the grass median.

Koebler, the driver of the rear-ended minivan, was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

Alan D. Earle, the driver of the sedan, came to a stop facing northwest on the grass median.

FHP Troopers in coordination with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Earle for the felony charges of vehicular manslaughter and DUI violation.

The Earle was taken into custody by law enforcement on 3/28/20, the crash however occurred at an earlier date – 08/14/2018.
