Editor’s Note: In this blog series, we are getting to know the members of the Texas Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors. TYLA, commonly called the “public service arm” of the State Bar of Texas, works to facilitate the administration of justice, foster respect for the law, and advance the role of the legal profession in serving the public. All TYLA programs are accomplished through the volunteer efforts of its board and committee members, with the cooperation of local affiliate young lawyers associations. Learn more at tyla.org.

Name: Reginald Wilson

Firm: Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP

Area of Law You Practice: Public Finance

Position Held in TYLA: District 6, Place 5 Director; Co-Chair, Law Focused Education Committee

How did you get involved in bar service? I got involved through LeadershipSBOT. I later met Arthur Bryan II, who nominated me for a TYLA open position.

What is your favorite TYLA project and why? Your Voice, Now! (see http://yourvoicenow.tyla.org/). The project sheds light on the suppression of First Amendment rights in grade school.

What tips can you give to other attorneys to manage stress? Protect your peace by setting boundaries. Don’t be afraid to use your vacation time and disconnect.

What do you do in your spare time? I love to travel with my wife, watch college football (Geaux Tigers), and barbecue.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you? I love to pay it forward. I am a co-creator of a nonprofit organization that awards 3L students at Thurgood Marshall School of Law sitting for the bar.
