Former NFL OL LeCharles Bentley Launches AMDG Sports

On Monday, April 27, former NFL offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley took to Twitter to announce the formation of his new agency AMDG Sports. According to its website, the agency is “the world’s first sports agency dedicated to the needs of offensive line athletes.”

The agency’s mission is to “educate, empower and embolden the player to the point where they are fully knowledgeable in the business of football.” A former second round pick out of The Ohio State University, Bentley has experienced the highs and lows that a NFL career often includes. A two-time Pro Bowler with the New Orleans Saints, his career was derailed after signing with his hometown Cleveland Browns due to a knee injury and subsequent staph infection.

After retiring from the NFL, Bentley dove into his second career but football always remained a key focus. He owned and operated the L. Bentley O-Line Academy in Avon, Ohio where he taught key offensive line skills before moving it to Arizona and rebranding as Oline Performance (OLP) and now announced AMDG Sports.

The naming of the agency stems from Bentley’s days at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. The all-boys Jesuit high school is no stranger to football success, amassing 11 OHSAA state titles and producing many college and professional football players, including Patriots QB Brian Hoyer, newly-signed Ravens LB Jake Ryan, former Colts WR and current U.S. Representative Anthony Gonzalez and Bentley among others. AMDG, or Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, is the Latin motto of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and means “For the greater glory of God.”

AMDG Sports boasts an already-established client roster of 18 athletes, both 2020 rookies as well as NFL-veterans, including Bears RT Bobby Massie and Saints G Larry Warford. The agency follows the Jesuit mantra of “Men for Others” to a tee in that it invests in athletes for the entirety of their career, by covering expenses such as off-season training, supplements, off-season sports therapy, in-season coaching consultant, sports nutrition and marketing opportunities, for which they do not charge a commission.
