The amendment to Regulation 14 of ANNEX VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (“MARPOL“) (also referred to as IMO 2020) came into effect on 1 January 2020 and set in place a new sulphur oxide (SOx) limit cap of 0.5 percent for marine fuel oils.
