Verrill seeks to hire an associate attorney to join our Portland office as a member of our Environmental and Energy Groups.
Verrill is a full service law firm with more than 135 attorneys conducting a nationwide practice from our offices in Portland and Augusta, Maine; Westport, Connecticut; Boston, Massachusetts; Providence, Rhode Island; and Washington, D.C.
The position is well suited for either an entry-level Associate or an Associate with several years of legal experience with complex statutory and regulatory programs. The ideal candidate will have a desire to support active practice groups that focus primarily on development, permitting, compliance and regulation of energy and other infrastructure projects, including environmental and land use permitting, PUC regulation and legislative and municipal relations. While not necessary, experience in politics would be beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have excellent legal and academic credentials; superb research, writing, and document management skills; superior verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal directly with clients, third party consultants and governmental officials; and rigorous attention to detail combined with unflagging responsiveness to clients and their needs.
