The 2021 rules vote ends March 4, and the State Bar of Texas has resources to help Texas lawyers cast an informed ballot.

Free CLE Course

The TexasBarCLE Online Classroom is offering the free course “Rules Vote Forum: Proposed Disciplinary Rule Amendments,” which is accredited for 1 hour of MCLE ethics credit. This course is for attorneys who couldn’t attend one of the live rules vote webinar forums. Register here.

TBJ Coverage

The January and February issues of the Texas Bar Journal include a variety of articles detailing the proposed amendments. Read them here.

SBOT Podcast

The February 1 episode of the State Bar of Texas Podcast features an in-depth discussion on the proposed rule changes. Listen here.

Online Resources

Additional resources—including FAQs, a summary of proposed amendments, and “redline” and “clean” versions of the proposed rules—are available at texasbar.com/rulesvote.

All Texas lawyers who are active and in good standing with the State Bar are eligible to vote. Voting ends at 5 p.m. CST on March 4 and all ballots (paper and electronic) must be received by the deadline.

Vote now.

Remember, being a member of the State Bar of Texas means you have the power to vote on the rules that regulate how you practice. Don’t let others decide this for you. Please exercise your right to vote!
