On Feb. 15, 2022, the defamation case brought by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin against the New York Times concluded with a jury verdict for the defense; however, an unusual procedure adopted by the trial judge just before the verdict was reached has created an intriguing issue if the case is appealed.
