On 14 April 2023, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published a letter from the European Commission (the Commission) on the Questions and Answers (Q&As) pursuant to article 16b(5) of the founding Regulations of the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs).

The aim of these Q&As is to help financial market participants apply the Regulation, especially in the context of the requirements of the regulatory technical standards in place since January 2023. These Q&As also contribute to clarifying the interaction between the SFDR and the different pieces of the sustainable finance framework.

The letter sets forth the answers to the questions that the ESAs have forwarded to the Commission because they require the interpretation of the Union law pursuant to Article 16b(5) of the respective founding Regulation of the Supervisory Authorities.

These replies have been published today by the ESAs.
