As many of you know, in 2002, my family and I founded and then designed and built AZ on the Rocks – Indoor Climbing in Scottsdale, Arizona. We successfully ran that sports and family entertainment business for almost 20 years. In 2022, we decided to focus on other projects and sold AZ on the Rocks.
I’m now excited to share with you our new adventure, one that is close to my heart and holds tremendous promise for our Scottsdale community. Alongside my brother, Kevin J. Berk, and friends and partners Brett and David Warner, I am a co-founder of and will serve as general counsel of PURE Pickleball – an ambitious project bringing one of the largest pickleball facilities in the world to Scottsdale.
Specifically, we now have plans to co-develop with Caliber (Nasdaq: CWD; CaliberCos Inc.) a world-class pickleball facility on an 11-acre site near Talking Stick Resort & Casino

Further, USA Pickleball, the National governing body for the sport of pickleball in the U.S. announced its plan to make PURE Pickleball its home! “Over the past year, the PURE Pickleball team has engaged with us on their ambitious plans to create an entirely new class of pickleball venue,” said Justin Maloof, Chief Operating Officer for USA Pickleball. “At this time, we are announcing PURE Pickleball is our intended future home, permanent headquarters and official National Training Center for USA Pickleball.”
I want to take a moment to address any concerns about my commitment to our firm and clients. My role in PURE Pickleball is an extension of my passion for community-building and sports, a path I successfully navigated when co-founding and helping run AZ on the Rocks Indoor Climbing over the last 20 years. As I take on this new role, I will continue to bring the same level of passion, commitment and excellence that I have always strived for in our legal practice.
