Twenty-one new immigration judges have been hired to start working in a new immigration court in Concord, California. The court is said to serve northern and central California counties, including Alameda, San Joaquin, Solano, and Contra Costa.

Some advocates are, however, concerned that the new Concord court will result in speeding up court hearings and decreasing access to counsel. In addition, concerns have been raised that persons may miss their immigration court hearing if they do not receive notice that the court location has moved and that their hearing date has changed.

KTVU television has this important report about the new court featuring a protest by immigrant advocates on the new courthouse steps.
