For any thinking human, the God existence conundrum has to be the most mind bending. We desperately want to believe. We create dozens of religions based on our particular inclinations. Since religions are created by humans, they are subject to all of the problems of humans. Good and bad. Wise and not so wise. Evil influences. We all have doubts. We all vacillate between believing and not believing. Ultimately, of course, it isn’t about religion at all. It is about a belief in something that can’t be proved by the human brain. The religious call it Faith. The agnostic opines that it can’t be proved. So, where does that leave us? How are we to live our lives? Is religion just a way to control the masses? If so, it does have benefits. It suppresses chaos. It fosters order. It enables those of us with good motives to live our lives in peace. I, myself, have chose to adopt the Stoics attitude towards belief in divinity. I can’t know, of course. But, I can think, and I can model my life according to a rational attitude of living among others.
