On 16 July 2026, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) both published updated Statements of Intent outlining how they will achieve their objectives, carry out their responsibilities and exercise their powers. APRA’s Statement of Intent also reaffirms APRA’s commitment to being a high-performing prudential regulator that serves the interests of the Australian community.

The Statements of Intent are in response to the Australian Government issuing a Statement of Expectations to both regulators. The Statement of Expectations outline the Government’s expectations as to how the regulators will achieve their objectives, carry out their functions and exercise their powers.
