DNB update on (re)appointment of policymakers

As of 1 October 2026, the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank, DNB) will change its policy on the reappointment of policymakers at financial institutions. From that date, such reappointments will no longer need to be reported using the specific form in DNB’s online portal. This change intends to simplify the procedure and to reduce the administrative burden on financial institutions. When a policymaker leaves the institution, the end date of their appointment must still be reported to DNB.

The simplified procedure does not apply where a reappointment involves a change in, or increase in the scope of, the individual’s role or responsibilities. This constitutes a change of role and requires a new suitability assessment application. As part of that assessment, DNB will consider whether the policymaker concerned is suitable for the new or amended role. A person who has been found suitable for a particular role is not automatically considered suitable for a different role.

Please find the news update here (Dutch only).
